چکیده

Crystalline tungsten disulphide nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by the chemical vapor condensation (CVC) method. The process performed as decomposition of tungsten hexacarbonyl over sulphur vapor in inert gas flow, where WS2 nanoparticles were synthesized by direct reaction between as formed pure tungsten nanoclusters and sulphur vapor. Influence of experimental parameters on shape, size distribution, structure and phase composition of nanoparticles were evaluated by transmission and scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. The produced nanoparticles have closely spherical shape with the mean size in the range 20–70nm in diameter dependently of process parameters. Nested ‘‘onion-like’’ structure of nanoparticles was observed. The mean value of interlayer distance in the {0 0 01} direction, is about 0.635870.031nm. Due to nanodimensional size, physical properties and layered structure tungsten disulphide nanoparticles have great potential as a solid lubricant material. & 2008 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Large-scale, hot-filament-assisted synthesis of tungsten oxide and related transition metal oxide nanowires.

A scalable and versatile method for the large-scale synthesis of tungsten trioxide nanowires and their arrays on a variety of substrates, including amorphous quartz and fluorinated tin oxide, is reported. The synthesis involves the chemical-vapor transport of metal oxide vapor-phase species using air or oxygen flow over hot filaments onto substrates kept at a distance. The results show that the...

Vapor phase synthesis of tungsten nanowires.

A concept is presented for synthesizing metal nanowires directly from the vapor phase using chemical vapor transport to temperatures higher than the corresponding metal oxide decomposition temperature. Specifically, this concept is demonstrated with the synthesis of tungsten metal nanowires with sizes ranging from 70 to 40 nm by increasing the condensation temperature. The simultaneous condensa...

Vapor phase nucleation on neutral and charged nanoparticles: condensation of supersaturated trifluoroethanol on Mg nanoparticles.

A new technique is described to study the condensation of supersaturated vapors on nanoparticles under well-defined conditions of vapor supersaturation, temperature, and carrier gas pressure. The method is applied to the condensation of supersaturated trifluoroethanol (TFE) vapor on Mg nanoparticles. The nanoparticles can be activated to act as condensation nuclei at supersaturations significan...
